ELLERSLIE, Ga. (WRBL) – Gone in an instant. That’s the new reality for some Ellerslie residents when a tornado touched down in their small community Sunday afternoon in southeast Harris County.

Just down the road, Pat Sylvis and her husband took shelter inside their home of more than 40 years and listened in fears as trees came crashing down.

News 3 spoke with Ms. Sylvis earlier in the day.

But even in the midst of destruction and loss, humanity shines brighter than the darkest storm.

Glorida Patel and her husband Peter gathered water bottles and chips from their nearby gas station and handed them out along with a hug to those affected by this storm.

Right outside their business who made his business getting people across the road safely.

Herb White lives a mile from the damage on Warm Springs Road, but he came out nonetheless to help direct traffic until local authorities came.
