Storms across Alabama lead to tornadoes in Montgomery, Pike counties

A tornado touched down in Pike County Thursday afternoon.

According to the Pike County Emergency Management Agency, the tornado hit the northeastern side of Troy along Highway 29 around 11:30 a.m.

Crews were headed to the area to survey the damage.

A spokesperson from Troy University said the school’s campus did not suffer any damage.

The National Weather Service reported numerous damage reports associated with debris from the tornado in Pike County.

Reports were also filed with the NWS regarding a tornado in Montgomery County. In that storm, reports showed tree damage throughout a narrow area near Stowers Road.

Jeanna Barnes of the Pike County Emergency Management Agency told The Associated Press a man was trapped in his home by a fallen tree.
