National Weather Service says Dexter tornado traveled 15 miles

DEXTER, N.M. (KRQE) – The National Weather Service says Tuesday’s tornado near Dexter traveled 15 miles in 15 minutes. The weather survey estimated it had peak winds speeds up to 135 miles per hour.

According to the damage assessment, six homes were destroyed or substantially damaged and another dozen structures were damaged.

Six people had minor injuries.

The twister dissipated about a half mile from Dexter.
