CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The National Weather Service confirmed reports of a Fourth of July tornado near Yawkey in Lincoln County.
The NWS announced Tuesday it found damage consistent with an EF-0 tornado on Monday, with estimated winds between 80 to 85 mph.
Five homes sustained minor damage, including lost shingles and flashing near the intersection of Route 3 and Route 214 near Detour Road.
The NWS also confirmed a microburst near Lost Creek in Harrison and Lewis counties. Numerous trees were snapped or uprooted east of I-79 two miles south of Lost Creek.
The degree of tree and structure damage was consistent with 90 to 100 miles-per-hour winds, a release said.
