The National Weather Service reports a few severe storms are possible late this afternoon through tonight over parts of South Texas and the Texas Gulf Coast.

Here are a few tweets showing property damage during Monday’s storm.

The school district in Wylie, Texas canceled Tuesday classes at all 19 campuses.

“We are still assessing damage to Wylie ISD facilities,” said district spokesman Ian Halperin. “So far we are finding broken glass, some water damage, and evidence of damage to rooftop air conditioning units.”

He said the “safest course of action” was to close the schools so that exhaustive inspections can be made during daylight and any needed repairs can begin.

Hail damaged at least a dozen homes in the small community of Sunset, between Fort Worth and Wichita Falls.

Southern Arkansas also suffered damages when a powerful windstorm moved through Monday. The worst part of the storm hit between Texarkana and El Dorado, according to The Associated Press.
