Law enforcement officers reported a tornado on the ground about a mile south of Harper early Sunday. The storm moved through the area around 3:30 a.m. There have been no reports of damage from the storm. The tornado lifted and a warning was canceled by 4 a.m.

Storms moved through Wichita later in the morning which prompted a tornado warning because of possible rotation. No tornadoes were confirmed in the area though. Areas south of Wichita saw more damage, with reports of downed trees and power poles in Derby and Rose Hill. A building in Derby appears to have suffered a collapsed roof in the 400 block of North Baltimore. Wind gusts up to 76mph were reported in the area.

As of 9:30 Sunday morning, Derby had 1800 customers without power. Wichita had 2000 customers without power and saw more scattered outages that widespread ones.

Severe storms moved through the Wichita area Saturday evening, with winds of 60 to 80 miles an hour. There were a number of reports of tree limbs and power lines down, and Westar Energy crews were working to restore power to over 3,000 customers in south central Kansas. There were still around 1,100 customers without power as of 4 a.m. A number of outages were also reported in northeast Kansas as severe storms moved through the state.

A severe thunderstorm watch was issued for south central Kansas Saturday evening, and a new watch was issued later that was in effect until 10 Sunday morning.
