FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, BRADFORD COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU-TV) Bradford County was also hit hard by Wednesday evening’s storms. The National Weather Service confirming a tornado touched down there. Eyewitness News Reporter Eric Deabill has a closer look at the damage the storm left behind,

The damage is staggering…

On Southside Road in Franklin Township, strong winds blew this horse trailer into a building at Peppers Farm.

Just a short distance away on Route 414, the roofs of several homes blew right off as a tornado touched down in this part of Bradford County.

Ken Welch was inside this home with his wife and 19-month old daughter when the emergency alert went off on his phone.

“I just thought it was another severe thunderstorm on my phone so I didn’t even bother looking at it, I was like ehhhhh and threw it off to the side” he told us.

Within a matter of moments, the home he rents was destroyed.

Welch’s wife and daughter were upstairs in a second floor room when the roof ripped right off.

“Luckily the attic floor is hardwood and I think that’s honestly what saved her and my daughter” he explained.

Upon Mountain Road, the amount of tree damage is incredible. The sheer force of the wind took down hundreds of trees and left behind a wide path of destruction.

This appears to be where everything ends, according to Bradford County’s Director of Public Safety.

“It was a pretty long trail. The first event happened about 4-5 miles from here and then of course here and all the way up to the mountain ridge so it’s a pretty long trail” said Jeff Scarboro, Bradford County Director of Public Safety,

Besides five homes in Franklin Township, two others were damaged or destroyed in Granville Township and another two in Leroy Township.

Desi Space lost her barn in Leroy Township.

Parts of it slammed into her home across the street.

“It was just chaos, complete chaos. It was just very surreal. It still kind of is…” said Space,

Space has no idea how long the tornado cleanup will take.

“The power of nature is unreal and God is good and nobody was hurt!”
