Tornado confirmed in Franklin County

An EF-1 tornado touched down in Franklin County during a series of severe thunderstorms Thursday, according to a National Weather Service report.

The tornado, which had winds between 85 and 95 miles per hour, touched down around 1:09 p.m. Thursday and traveled 9.5 miles from its starting point. It damaged trees and structures in its path before ending 10 minutes later, the report states.

The tornado began around Highway 60 near Grand Prairie Road and destroyed outbuildings, damaged chicken houses, a home and a barn and uprooted trees in its path. It moved northeast through the areas around North Bradbury Street, the intersection of highways 41 and 60 and the intersection of Highway 288 and Compressor Road, the report states.
