The National Weather Service’s Jackson office on Tuesday confirmed four twisters hit the state Friday night and early Saturday morning.

Meteorologist Latrice Maxie said there were no injuries or deaths reported from the tornadoes, although the system did cause some damage to homes and sheds from downed trees.

An EF0 touched down just west of Pelahatchie in Rankin County Friday evening bringing wind speeds of up to 76 mph. The tornado traveled northward for just over 11 miles before lifting into the sky.

An EF1 tornado was confirmed to have traveled through the city of Kosciusko in Attala County Friday evening. The tornado had peak wind speeds of 95 mph and traveled less than a mile.

Another EF1 tornado traveled a little more than four miles through rural parts of Lincoln County, near Brookhaven, late Friday night. The tornado brought wind speeds of up to 95 mph and traveled through a wooded area causing mostly damage to trees in the area.

“There were a couple of structures that were damaged, but it was mainly from a tree falling on them,” Maxie said. “There were a couple of homes, maybe two or three homes, where a tree had fallen on them that received some damage.”

NWS also confirmed an EF1 tornado with peak winds speeds of 105 mph touched down in Marion County, near Columbia, early Saturday morning. The twister traveled in a southwest direction for about eight miles before lifting into the sky.
