NWS: Tornado confirmed in River Ridge over weekend

The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in River Ridge over the weekend.

The NWS surveyed the storm damage on Monday.

According to the NWS, an EF0 tornado touched down in River Ridge on Sunday at 8:19 p.m.

The survey concluded that power poles snapped along Dickory Drive.

The storm’s path was 2.6 miles long and 50 yards wide, according to the storm damage report.

Minor tree damage was reported in Mike Miley Park on David Drive.

Another tornado touched down at 8:19 pm in River Ridge.

There is some indication it may have started on the West Bank near Helis Drive, but the survey team only investigated the East Bank.

The damage started on Jefferson Highway and Andrea Street in River Ridge. The Path was 2.6 miles long, and was 50 yards wide. Transformers and power lines were down along Dickory Avenue in Harahan.

The NWS survey team already reported an EF-1 Tornado near Centreville in Wilkinson County at 6:02 pm Sunday.

It was on the ground for 1.75 miles, and was 125 yards wide. Trees were snapped or uprooted. A mobile home was rolled off its foundation.

There was also a microburst of 85 mph one mile southeast of Montpelier in St. Helena Parish. Trees were uprooted and snapped. There was also damage to mobile homes.
