MESQUITE, Texas (KWTX) A tornado tore through a neighborhood over the weekend in a Texas suburb, leaving widespread damage behind.

The EF-0 tornado with winds as high as 85 miles per hour struck early Saturday morning.

The tornado damaged, roofs and fences and destroyed one home.

The resident, Tiffany Thomas, said it “sounded like a bomb went off” when the twister struck the house.

“About 7:55, we heard the rain, couple of minutes later we heard hail. And the next thing I heard was like a big boom,” she said.

“All the windows in the back of the house busted,” she said.
