EF-1 tornado hits Tyndall Air Force Base

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WFLA/WJHG) – An EF-1 tornado hit the Florida Panhandle Saturday night, causing some damage to Tyndall Air Force Base.

The National Weather Service said the tornado brought peak winds of 90 mph.

In a report, the service said the tornado “moved a car, broke car windows, tore a portion of a new roof off barracks and flipped dumpsters and garbage cans on their sides.”

Official said ongoing missions at the base are expected to be unaffected.

No injuries were reported.
