Wednesday’s storms spawned tornado in Rankin County

RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. —
The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado swept through the Castlewoods community in Rankin County Wednesday night.

The EF0 tornado had winds of 75 mph.

The tornado formed near the intersection of Branbury Court and Rusk Road, where it downed a couple of small trees. It traveled east across the Castlewoods Country Club golf course, where it snapped a hardwood tree and uprooted another tree.

The twister continued moving east, just south of Castlewoods Boulevard, and snapped tree limbs along the way. The tornado ended just past Willow Grand Circle, where more limbs were snapped and a trampoline was thrown into some trees.

No injuries were reported.
