CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — One year after a tornado took everything they owned, the Morris’s are getting ready to move into an entirely new house.

Even a year after the tornado, debris from several homes is still scattered across their neighborhood.

For the last year, Doyle and Marie Morris stayed with their daughter Kimberly.

But now the Morris’s are able to find some sense of normalcy, in a new home entirely designed by their daughter.

“We had to build from the ground up,” says Kimberly Montooth. “There was nothing, there was no structure still standing,” she tells NC9.

The home was filled with memories and the loss affected the family deeply.

“I mean they (her parents) built this home. This was the home I grew up in, the only home I ever lived in before I got married.”
