The National Weather Service confirmed that a weak tornado touched down along Route 7 near Hartford Township in Trumbull County on Thursday.

According to the Associated Press, the Weather Service classified the tornado as an EF0 (EF zero), which is the weakest on the scale of tornado severity.

However, 21 News’ Jess Briganti says representatives from the Weather Service will be in Trumbull County late this morning to assess the damage before making a final determination.

There were three separate tornado warnings in the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys Thursday evening and reports of trees and power lines down but no reports of injuries.

The report of the tornado came in at 7:18 p.m. and the touchdown happened near the village of Yankee Lake.

Trumbull County 911 said that in Fowler Township, the intersection of Routes 193 and 305 was closed due to a tree on wires and primary lines on the ground. Crews were still working late Thursday night but the intersection had reopened.

A supervisor said that there were no reports of property damage or injuries but there were calls for five or six trees down in Champion, Fowler, Hartford and Vernon Township.

During the first tornado warning that was issued for Trumbull County at 7:05 pm, dispatchers received unconfirmed reports of a touchdown near the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. The supervisor passed that information on to the National Weather Service.

Then around the time of the second tornado warning at 7:41 pm in Trumbull County, there was an unconfirmed report of a touchdown by the airport and the police station, which was also passed on to NWS, according to dispatch.

Around 9 p.m., NWS confirmed a tornado touched down along Route 7 near Hartford Township.

Dispatch said that there were a lot of unconfirmed reports of rotation in the clouds but not on the ground.

In Mercer County, there was also a tornado warning issued at 7:41 pm.

At 8:14 pm, Mercer County 911 said that there were no reports of a touchdown and no reports of damage or road closures.
