‘Internet famous’ Alberta tornado rating raised after survey

Monday, June 5, 2017, 5:37 PM – The final assessment has been released on the photogenic tornado that touched down in central Alberta last Friday afternoon.

After an extensive storm survey, Environment and Climate Change Canada has raised the Enhanced Fujita Scale rating of the tornado to EF-1, bumped up from the initial assessment of EF-0.

The video, posted to Twitter by Kevin Edwards of Three Hills Hubbub, showed the dark twister moving near the town of Three Hills. The photogenic funnel also popped up in several social feeds.
