COLLINSVILLE, Miss. (WTOK) – A local church is in the beginning stages of rebuilding after an EF-2 tornado totaled their entire property. Collinsville First Baptist breaking ground after nearly five months after the storm.

What once was once a beautiful church once housing over 600 members is now gone. February the second at 3:30 in the afternoon, changed this church forever. What you are looking at is the aftermath of once was. And despite what happened to the disaster, Pastor Wade Ricks offers this explanation in hopes to the congregation.

“Well, our scripture tells us that all things work together for the good of those who love Christ,” Ricks says. “This does look devastating and it was and it looks like, Um, you know, That is a bad thing, but I think it is something that God can use to do miracles and some wondrous things and amazing things and I encouraged our church this morning in telling them that it is not all about the building. It is about the body of Christ. You know, it is about God building the people up.”

“We have a heart for our community and we want to minister to our community and we certainly want to share the gospel in our community and I expect that we will see a much more faithful church on the other side of this.”

The tornado may have done its damage, but, today, makes the beginning of a bigger, stronger, and even better church to come.

“We will officially present our new plans to the church and start to move forward in a few short weeks,” Ricks says. “Within the next month we will see a contractor begin to move dirt and level the land and we will rebuild a totally different style of building then what we had before and it will all be under one roof.”
