SENECA, Ill. — The National Weather Service confirms an EF-2 tornado barreled Seneca, a town about 80 miles southwest of Chicago.
Winds were measured at 116 miles per hour.
Thursday, the community began to cleanup.
Construction crews, insurance adjusters, volunteers and neighbors filled the streets to help out.
A livestock barn on a family farm was severely damaged. Fortunately no animals were inside. But equipment was destroyed.
A brand new pickup truck was tossed on its side and a piece of a 26-foot livestock trailer ended up nearly a mile away.
Despite the damage, residents say this could have been much worse. No injuries reported.
