HOMOSASSA, Fla. — Clean-up continues today after Monday’s tornado left damage in Homosassa in Citrus County.

The damage was in the 7 mile path.

Storms, including some that were strong to severe with damaging winds, moved across the Bay area region Monday.

An EF-0 tornado has been confirmed in Homosassa. Several structures were damaged.

At 9:39 a.m., a waterspout moved onshore the coast of Homosassa as a tornado, which continued on an easterly path, before lifting in Homosassa Springs at 9:48am.

There was a narrow path of damage, which started across a mobile home park near Buzzard Point. It produced minor damage to seven structures and major damage to two structures.

“All hell broke loose,” said Citrus resident Bill Bergy, describing the storm. “Windows were breaking, beams were falling down. It was a real scary and surreal thing.”

Numerous trees were downed or snapped in the Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park. Other damage reports from the tornado include a downed billboard and the sail of a gas station that blew off.

There were no injuries reported.
