A tornado that tore through a Georgia neighborhood on March 3 carved a distinctive path through a wooded subdivision, leaving hundreds of downed trees. In the middle of the twister’s path stands a two-story house that made it through the storm seemingly unscathed.

Matt Gillespie of Ellerslie, Georgia, captured drone footage of the destruction left behind by the tornado that killed 23 people, including four children, and caused significant damage in Lee County, Alabama, before it tore into Georgia. At that point in the twister’s 70-mile path, it was causing EF4 damage.

By the time the tornado reached Ellerslie and Waverly Hall, Georgia, it was causing EF2 damage.

“The tornado produced EF2 damage in the area where the house is located,” said weather.com meteorologist Chris Dolce. “Tornadoes of that magnitude can down or snap numerous trees as the photo shows. EF2 tornadoes can also tear off the roofs of well-constructed homes, but this one doesn’t show that it suffered that type of damage.”

Gillespie noted in a Facebook post that his parents’ home also incurred damage by the twister but no injuries were reported in the area.
