The rare January tornado that touched down in western Pennsylvania on Tuesday mostly damaged trees.

National Weather Service in Pittsburgh announced findings from a survey team that assessed the damage in the tornado’s aftermath.

The tornado, categorized as an EF-1, touched down about 2 miles north of New Lebanon in Mercer County. It had maximum sustained winds of 95 mph and traveled approximately 2.8 miles.

“Most of the damage was to hardwood trees that were either uprooted or snapped at the trunk,” according to National Weather Service. The report also indicates the only possible structural damage was a result of tree fell on a mobile home and damaged its roof.

“There was also a brine container that was tossed approximately 60 yards,” according to the report.

No injuries or fatalities were reported.

The tornado was the 7th January tornado recorded in Pennsylvania since 1950. It is also the 24th recorded in Mercer County since 1886 – before that, the last tornado happened on May 31, 2015.
