Tornado touches down in Butte County

A tornado briefly touched down in Butte County Thursday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, the tornado formed during a severe thunderstorm north of Darlington.

There was also quarter-sized hail and strong winds during the storm. A screen door was blown off its hinges. No other damage was reported.

At 2:26pm, the NWS issued a special weather statement about a strong line of thunderstorms that stretched from Monida to just northwest of the INL.
