WASHBURN — A “brief, weak” tornado Wednesday evening near Washburn damaged several trees and knocked limbs down on two farms, according to the National Weather Service.

The tornado touched down at 6:51 p.m. one mile east of Washburn and did little damage during its brief touchdown in the rural area, according to the National Weather Service. Straight lines winds across central Illinois were a bigger problem, according to the National Weather Service. Wind speeds ranged from 55 to 70 mph.

Washburn is in Woodford and Marshall counties, where no power outages were listed Wednesday night on the Ameren Illinois website. In Peoria County, however, Ameren listed 1,019 customers without power as of 9:40 p.m.

Washburn experienced major damage Feb. 28, when an EF-3 tornado hit the northwest corner of town. Officials estimate the tornado damaged up to 37 buildings, but no injuries were reported.
